Squash Information

squash4We have 3 squash courts all with spacious viewing galleries. By redecorating the courts every-other-year we do our best to keep them in good shape. There is even recent talk of on court heating to keep those balls bouncing during the winter months!

Unlike tennis, all squash and raquetball court time must be paid for by sticking a £2 stamp on the chosen day, court and time.

Daily court booking sheets are found in the corridor outside the squash courts. Times for inter-club matches are marked on these sheets, but the courts are available for members at all other times.

A friendly club squash afternoon is run every Saturday between 4.00pm and 6.30pm and is the ideal opportunity for new or prospective members to come and enjoy a friendly game with some of the existing squash members. Players rotate courts regularly and so you get to play a variety of opponents of all levels.

Squash coaching is available for players of all ability either as individual or group lessons at very reasonable rates. If you’d like to book please contact Ryan Johnson on 07516-156479 for further information.

Squash members have the opportunity to play in internal leagues throughout the year. Players of all abilities are able to participate, starting in the lower leagues with the chance to progress month on month up the league tables, helping players to continually improve their skills and gradually compete against better players.

The leagues form the clubs prestigious “Order of Merit” in which players earn points for their performances each month, culminating each season in awards for the top 3 point scoring players over the season’s duration.

The internal squash leagues run from September through till March each year and players of every standard are encouraged to enter. The league boxes each have 5 players maximum with each player playing each other once per month. At the end of each month two players are promoted (except in top league) and two are relegated (except in bottom league). Each player receives points for each game won in a match plus an additional 6 bonus points for playing all of the matches in their league.

The points gained are totalled each month and used to position each player in a league table. The entry fee for the leagues is £5.00 per month with each monthly box winner receiving £10.00 and the overall league table winner in March receiving £75.

This is a night to celebrate success and enjoy the odd drink or 2, and is always a night to remember!! The annual awards and trophies are presented at the clubs annual presentation night held in October each year.
